Lourdes Cardona was re-elected Friday as president of the PP of Vila, in the act that closed the process of municipal congresses of the party in Ibiza. The leader spoke of «illusion» and defended that the PP is, as she said, «the project that best represents our citizens». The re-election took place smoothly, in an event marked by continuity.
Cardona thanked the support of affiliates and supporters, whom he defined as «engine and speaker», and stressed that the last four years have been of shared work. He also highlighted the collaboration with the insular PP and the mayor Rafael Triguero, with whom he maintains a line of political coordination in the City Council of Ibiza.
Support from the Consell
The island president, José Vicente Marí, supported the continuity of Cardona and said that the challenge now is to consolidate the political change in Vila. Marí insisted that the party’s commitment is to maintain the course initiated and avoid «setbacks».
For his part, Rafael Triguero claimed that the PP is the party «of the people who wake up early and work hard,» and noted that his municipal government acts for all residents, regardless of political sign. He admitted that there is still work to be done, but assured his support for the re-elected local president.
The president of the Consell de Ibiza, Vicent Marí, closed the event by stressing that internal unity is the element that allows to generate confidence and compete electorally. In his opinion, both Cardona and Triguero represent this line of joint work within the party.
