An excavator caught fire on Wednesday at a construction site in the municipality of Sant Antoni. The authorities are now investigating the causes of the flames, although the first hypotheses point to a possible mechanical failure in the machinery.
The fire originated in a machine working in a construction site and caused a large column of smoke visible from several nearby points. Firefighters from the Ibiza Fire Department were on the scene and managed to smother the flames and ensure safety in the perimeter.

Several neighbors filmed the moment of the fire, and the images were disseminated through social networks by the account Exponiendo Ibizawhere the excavator can be seen engulfed in flames.
So far, it is not known if any injuries were reported.
