A fire broke out in the vicinity of the sports complex of Can Coix, in the municipality of Sant Antoni, activated around 4:15 a.m. on Friday morning to troops of the Ibiza Island Fire Station, which moved to the scene two vehicles with five firefighters.
The fire was brought under control after more than four hours of continuous work, according to the emergency services. The flames came from an unauthorized burning in which vegetable remains, furniture and wood had accumulated, which favored the spread of the flames and made it difficult to extinguish.
The Fire Department explained that, although there was no danger of spreading to inhabited areas, the fire burned with great intensity, which prolonged the extinguishing tasks.
This is the second incident of similar characteristics in the same area during the current week, which has generated concern about the use of uncontrolled burning in the surroundings of the municipal sports center.
