The City Council of Sant Josep de sa Talaia and the Parish of Sant Josep present a new edition of the Autumn Organ Concert Series, which this year celebrates its eighteenth edition. The event, already consolidated in the cultural calendar of the Pitiusas, has become a benchmark within the organ concerts in the Balearic Islands, thanks to its careful programming and the quality of its performers.
Tradition and modernity at the inaugural concert
The series will begin this Sunday, November 16, at 12:00 noon, with a recital by the renowned organist Jesús Ciero Polvillo, titular organist of the Chapel of Montserrat in Seville and professor at the Higher Conservatory of Music of Seville.
Under the title “Tradition and modernity in contemporary music from Seville”, the concert will pay tribute to contemporary music written for pipe organ in the Andalusian capital, with a colorful repertoire and daring harmonies, unusual in this type of recitals. For the occasion, Ciero Polvillo will be accompanied by the Petit Cor, a chamber choir from Eivissa, which will add a choral dimension to the musical proposal.
The second performance of the series will take place on Saturday, November 29, and will be given by organist Nofre Morey Munar, professor at the Conservatory of Palma. On this occasion, the public will be able to enjoy a classical German repertoire, with pieces that will show the strength and technical precision of one of the most influential traditions in the history of the organ.
An instrument with a soul of its own
The organ of the church of Sant Josep, the centerpiece of the cycle, was built in the workshops of Pere Reynés Florit in Campanet (Mallorca). It stands out for its baroque style with Catalan tradition, has 20 sound registers and 1,500 wooden and tin pipes, which gives it a richness of timbre that allows to approach from ancient repertoires to contemporary works.
The XVIII Cycle of Autumn Organ Concerts of Sant Josep is organized by the Choir of Sant Josep and is sponsored by the City Council of Sant Josep de sa Talaia and the Association of Neighbors of Sa Raval.
With this new edition, the municipality reaffirms its commitment to the dissemination of classical music and organ heritage of the Pitiusas, inviting both residents and visitors to enjoy a unique musical experience in the heart of Sant Josep.
