Hiking with purpose: this is how Ibiza Hike Station cleaned up more than 1,000 kilos of coastline

The hiking community Ibiza Hike Station has celebrated its fifth anniversary with a solidarity action of coastal cleaning, reaffirming its commitment to the natural environment of the island that inspires it.

According to the organization, some thirty hikers participated in the Hike to Clean initiative, a special route that combined sport, nature and environmental awareness. During the day, volunteers collected more than 1,000 kilos of waste along three stretches of the Ibizan coastline. As they clarified in the video of their Instagram post, it was more than 1,500 kilos.

The debris removed ranged from plastics hidden among the vegetation to old pieces of abandoned boats in forested areas near the sea.

The values of the hiking community

Ibiza Hike Station emphasized that this action was a way to “turn the connection with nature into real action” and to thank the island for everything it has offered them in these five years of activity.

The day concluded with a message of thanks to all participants for their involvement and community spirit: “Five years of adventure, awareness and community,” summarized the organization.
