The Ibiza Town Hall and the organization Doctors of the World have assisted 16 women in a situation of severe social exclusion during the first year of operation of the pilot plan “Mujeres que florecen” (Women who flourish) . Of these, nine have already accessed a residential resource and 90% are currently part of the network of Social Services of the Consistory of the capital of Ibiza.
The balance of the program was presented this Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at the Casal de Igualdad, within the awareness cycle “So close, so equal”, dedicated to making visible the reality of people in situations of social exclusion.
Accompaniment and recovery
The Councilor for Social Welfare and Housing, Lola Penín, stressed that the results of this first year demonstrate the effectiveness of the intervention model: “The results of this first year show us that projects such as ‘Mujeres que florecen’ are essential to accompany women living in situations of extreme exclusion, helping them to resume contact with public services and to begin a process of personal and social recovery.
For his part, the director of Social Welfare, Iván Castros, underscored the value of individualized work with each participant: “We work with women who have often been made invisible, and the fact that most of them are already linked to the Social Services network shows that the intervention model works”.
Comprehensive care for homeless women
The project, coordinated by the City Council and Doctors of the World, aims to provide comprehensive care to women referred by the municipal Social Services who are homeless, actively using drugs or in the process of detoxification. These women require intensive follow-up and continuous accompaniment to reconnect with community resources and move towards autonomy.
Those in charge of presenting the results of the pilot plan were the social worker of the Eivissa Town Council, Laia Amores, and the psychologist of Doctors of the World, Marta Martínez, who explained that the program focuses on recovering the confidence and social bond of the participating women.
Consolidate the project
Councilwoman Lola Penín said that the Eivissa Town Council will continue working to consolidate the project and expand its coverage to more women in vulnerable situations.
“Every woman who receives support is a life that can flourish again,” concluded Penín, stressing the need to maintain a sustained social intervention that allows for real opportunities for reintegration and well-being.
