The PSOE of Ibiza has denounced this Wednesday the “abandonment” and “mismanagement” of the city’s park-and-ride lots, which are, according to the formation, in a deplorable state due to the lack of planning and maintenance of the current municipal government team, headed by Mayor Rafael Triguero.
According to the socialists, the situation is especially serious in the parking lot of the Can Misses neighborhood, which was “fixed” just a few days ago after months of neighborhood complaints about flooding that had left it practically unusable. However,
Criticism of the closure of a parking lot for the Christmas Fair
The PSOE has also criticized the decision of the City Council of Ibiza to close another of the parkings to install the Christmas Fair, which will mean the loss of hundreds of parking spaces at the beginning of the commercial campaign. Although the council has announced the creation of a new provisional parking lot, both its location and capacity are unknown.
For the socialist group, this decision is a “total nonsense” that is repeated for the second consecutive year. “Not only the supply of places is not expanded, but the available spaces are reduced, generating more difficulties and frustration among citizens,” they point out.

“An essential tool for mobility.”
The PSOE recalls that the park-and-ride lots are a key tool to reduce traffic in the center and improve the quality of life of residents and commuters to the island’s capital. “Instead of taking care of them and enhancing them, the government team keeps them in a deplorable state or uses them for purposes unrelated to their main function,” they point out.
They demand immediate action
The socialists demand immediate and planned action from the government team, including real and constant maintenance, the creation of new parking spaces and a mobility policy focused on citizens, not headlines.
Meanwhile, they say, the residents of Ibiza continue to suffer the consequences: endless circles to find parking “has become the daily bread”. “The patience of citizens is running out, and rightly so,” concludes the PSOE statement.
