Santa Eulària des Riu will commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women with a series of events in the coming days focused on awareness, education and solidarity. The program includes from children’s activities and workshops to a play that addresses the reality of women throughout history.
Education and reading to promote equality from childhood onwards
The activities will kick off on Saturday, November 22 with the presentation of the campaign. Library Viatgera. Es Senalló Violeta promoted by the Department of Equality and the Municipal Library. The initiative, part of the “Respecte i Punt” project, is committed to reading as a tool for raising awareness and will reach schools with lots of books, storytelling, workshops and research proposals on female authors. In addition, the Passeig Solidari will offer children’s activities focused on values of coexistence and respect.
That same Saturday, at 8 p.m., the Centro Cultural de Jesús will host the play Niña dá la luh, by Salamandra Teatro. The piece, poetic and documentary in nature, brings together testimonies of women from different periods and contexts to portray female resistance throughout history.
Workshops and institutional events on 25N
On Monday, November 24, the Workshop 25N. Weaving good deals given by the municipal psychologist. The sessions, which will be held in different parishes until the 28th, will combine participatory dynamics and creative techniques based on collage in order to identify situations of good and bad treatment and reflect on emotional bonds in adulthood.
On November 25, the Plaza España will be the scene of the reading of the institutional manifesto and a minute of silence in memory of the victims of gender violence.
Vocational training and youth programming
On Wednesday 26, between 16.00 and 20.00 hours, the Cultural Center of Jesus will host a training day for professionals involved in cases of gender violence, addressing key police and judicial aspects to improve coordination in these processes.
Finally, the Punts Joves of the municipality will present its new program with creative workshops, film forums and spaces for youth participation. In addition, until December 5, the Municipal Library will offer a bibliographic corner with stories and updated materials that promote values of equality and respect.
