La Gran Ciutat park, located in the Joan Marí Cardona square, reopens its doors after a comprehensive renovation that has completely transformed this leisure space. The works have involved an investment of 205,082.90 euros and have allowed to expand the play area from 160 m² to 450 m², incorporating accessible and adapted elements for children of different ages.
The new design incorporates safety pavements, sustainable materials and playground equipment designed to promote an inclusive experience. The renovation, which took six weeks to complete, is part of the municipal plan to improve the municipality’s children’s playgrounds.
More than half a million invested in parks during 2025
Throughout the year, the City Council has allocated more than 500,000 euros to renovate playgrounds in different parts of Ibiza. Among the improvements are the installation of new shade structures, the creation of two additional play areas and the modernization of spaces widely used by families.
This plan includes actions in the park next to the Vila Health Center, the Dinoparc on Font i Quer street and the Platja d’en Bossa park, where sun protection awnings have been installed to make its use more comfortable throughout the year.
Children’s workshops and a special novelty this Saturday
The reopening will be held this Saturday, November 22 from 11.00 am with a program of activities organized by the Regidoria d’Igualtat. Children will be able to enjoy creative workshops, such as the elaboration of medals of “egalitarian powers”, creation of comics for equality, a storytelling, a large collaborative mural and other participatory games.
With this action, the consistory reaffirms its role as a Child Friendly City by UNICEF, betting on the improvement of public spaces and the promotion of social and educational values among children.
