New gold for Judo Sant Jordi: Dina Hamri shines in the Spanish Cup

The Ibizan club closed the weekend with an outstanding performance in both the Spanish Judo Cup and the Children's Super Cup.

The Juan de la Cierva Sports Center in Getafe hosted this weekend the Spanish Judo Cup in children and cadet categories , one of the most important competitions of the national calendar, bringing together more than 700 judokas from all the autonomous communities and with a notable international participation from Portugal. The Sant Jordi Judo Club traveled there with an expedition of eleven athletes and two coaches to face two intense days of competition.

Dina Hamri, champion in the Cadet Spanish Cup

Saturday was marked by the outstanding performance of Dina Hamri, who was proclaimed champion in -48 kg in the Spanish Cup “A” Cadet. Starting as the top seed, she more than fulfilled the predictions and solved all her bouts by ippon: in the eighth round against Noemí García, in the quarterfinals against Paula Trabado and in the semifinals against Sandra Montero, both bronze medalists.

In the final she imposed her authority against Carolina Caro, reaffirming herself as one of the most solid figures in her category and consolidating her position as number 2 in the national ranking. With this medal, the club now has ten podiums in Spanish Cups this season.

María García, fifth in the Children’s Super Cup

On Sunday it was the turn of the children’s competition, where Maria Garcia achieved a creditable fifth place. Current number 2 in the national ranking, she defeated Nora Martín in the eighth round and Valeria Aparicio in the quarterfinals . In the semifinals she lost to the Andalusian María Ruiz despite dominating most of the fight, and in the fight for the bronze she could not overcome Luna Sánchez in a tight duel. Despite this, the judoka maintains her outstanding position at national level.
