The 8M Ibiza Commission demanded this Monday, during the rally held on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, an urgent reinforcement of resources and public policies aimed at combating institutional violence and the multiple forms of male violence.
The event, held in Vila and including the reading of a manifesto, was marked by a clear message: gender violence “affects everyone”, including those women “who watch and listen without acting”, as the group lamented.
80 women and three minors murdered in 2025
During the meeting, the 80 women and three minors murdered so far in 2025 were recalled, figures that bring to 1,658 the number of femicides registered since 2010, according to data from the feminicidio.net platform. The Commission also warned that more than 105,000 cases are still active within the VioGén protection system, with many victims still “in a situation of vulnerability”.
“We will not be silent.”
In the manifesto, the group insisted that it will not remain silent “in the face of a sexist joke, aggressions when we go out to party or wage inequality and pension inequality”.
The organization also demanded more training for the services that attend to women victims of violence and their children, and the effective implementation of a cross-cutting educational system on equality.
Comprehensive sex education and labor protection
The 8M Ibiza Commission defended the need to guarantee comprehensive sex education, “that does not moralize or infantilize” and that takes into account the existing diversity. Their demands also included the recognition of occupational diseases in the domestic work sector and the request that public services, such as healthcare, should not be privatized.
The event concluded with a message of unity and firmness: “Resilient and combative until all male violence is eradicated“.
