The City Council of Ibiza has thanked this Wednesday the recognition given to the agents Ángeles Gallardo and Pilar Daviu, distinguished with the Premis Menines 2025 in a ceremony held at the Seu universitària d’Ibiza i Formentera. The tribute, promoted by the Government Delegation in the Balearic Islands, highlighted their work in the care and protection of victims of gender violence, a work considered essential by local institutions.
Gallardo, reference in Ibiza police intervention
The City Council highlighted the career of Ángeles Gallardo, officer of the Local Police of Ibiza, whose work has been recognized for her dedication and commitment in the fight against gender violence. At the ceremony she was accompanied by the councilor of Social Welfare, Lola Penín, and by the director of the Local Police, Julián Córdoba, who stressed that her professionalism has contributed to strengthen the intervention protocols in the municipality.
The ceremony also honored Pilar Daviu, head of the Gender Violence Unit of the Local Police of Formentera. The Government Delegation valued her direct intervention with victims and her prevention work, functions that the insular institution develops in coordination with the security forces of Ibiza. The collaboration between islands is key to comprehensive protection, according to the consistory.
An institutional boost to gender violence units
The Ibiza City Council said that the award is “a boost and a sign of institutional support” to the daily work of these specialized units. The corporation insists that the fight against gender violence requires stable resources, as well as coordination between administrations and security forces. These units are essential to move towards a safer and violence-free environment, the consistory remarked.
