GEN-GOB Ibiza presented this Monday its traditional Premis Savina i Formigó 2025, awards that recognize, on the one hand, the defense of the environment and heritage of Ibiza and, on the other hand, point out the actions that, in the opinion of the environmental organization, contribute to its deterioration. The awards were presented at a ceremony held at the restaurant Es Cruce, in Sant Rafel, where members and supporters knew the posthumous tribute to the veterinarian and popularizer Joan Pereyra Tur and the Premi Formigó awarded to the Balearic president, Marga Prohens, as well as a second prize for two heritage technicians.
The event marks the return of these awards after four years without being held, which, according to the organization, reflects the need to “put the focus both on those who promote environmental advances and on those who aggravate the island’s territorial problems”.

The Premi Formigó, an “anti-award” that GEN-GOB reserves for actions it considers harmful, was awarded to Marga Prohens, president of the Balearic Government. The environmentalist organization denounced that the urban and territorial norms promoted by the autonomous Executive mean “more tourist pressure, more consumption of resources and less environmental protection“, citing among other aspects:

Regulatory changes that allow the legalization of irregular constructions.

Increase in urban densities, especially in Ibiza.

Amendments to the agrarian law that, according to GEN, open the door to tourism uses on rural land.

A future coastal law that, in his opinion, “regularizes buildings within the public domain“.
GEN described these initiatives as “an acceleration towards the degradation of the territory“, and therefore granted Prohens “an unprecedented Formigó”.
Formigó’s award: criticism of two heritage technicians
The jury also awarded a runner-up prize for Formigó to Rosa Gurrea, municipal technician of the City Council of Ibiza, and the archaeologist of the Consell, Joan Ramon Torres. GEN-GOB argues that both “have contributed by action or omission to the loss of heritage elements” during their careers, citing interventions in Dalt Vila, the Marina or sa Penya, as well as the management of enclaves such as Sa Caleta or Cap des Llibrell.
The speeches include a very critical analysis of archaeological supervision, conservation of remains and urban development in historic areas of the city.
Ibiza City Council defends its technician: “An excellent professional and dedicated to heritage”.
After learning of the award to the municipal archaeologist, the Ibiza City Council issued a statement in defense of Rosa Gurrea, stressing that civil servants “are public servants who dedicate their working lives to the service of citizens“.
The Consistory stresses that Gurrea “has devoted his entire career to preserve and enhance the historical heritage of the city”, contributing “decisively to the international recognition enjoyed by Ibiza, which this December 4 celebrates 26 years as World Heritage“. The government team is grateful for his “dedication and effort throughout a professional life that will culminate shortly with his retirement“.
