Waiting lists in the Balearic Islands continue to rise. On November 30, 2025, the public hospitals of the archipelago accumulated 16,031 patients pending surgery, some 3,000 more than a year earlier, and the average delay rose to 105.59 days, according to data published by the Conselleria de Salud.
In this regional context of increase, the data allow us to visualize in which specialties the greatest care pressure is concentrated in the Hospital de Can Misses, although the report does not detail the inter-annual evolution for each center.
Traumatology and general surgery, the services with the most patients waiting in Ibiza
Can Misses registers 600 patients on the surgical waiting list for orthopedic surgery and traumatology, placing it among the centers with the highest volume in this specialty after Son Espases and the Hospital de Manacor.
In general and digestive surgery, the Ibizan hospital has 474 patients waiting for surgery, behind Son Espases (1,351) and Son Llàtzer (1,231).
Other specialties with a high care load in Ibiza are:
-
Ophthalmology: 456 people on surgical waiting list.
-
Otorhinolaryngology (ENT): 469 patients, one of the highest volumes in the archipelago.
-
Urology: the teletype does not give a specific figure for Can Misses, although this specialty exceeds 1,300 cases overall in the Balearic Islands.
These data reflect the weight that Ibiza has in the surgical waiting lists of the archipelago, although they do not allow us to state whether there has been an increase or reduction with respect to 2024 in the Ibizan hospital, a comparison that does appear in the global information of the Balearic Islands.
Outpatient clinics: rehabilitation and neurology, among the most stressed services at the Ibizan hospital
In the field of outpatient consultations, the Balearic Islands accumulates 87,700 patients waiting, with an average delay of 63.89 days. Can Misses appears especially pressured in three specialties:

-

In other areas -traumatology, dermatology, gynecology or ophthalmology- the main weight falls on Son Espases, Son Llàtzer, Inca or Manacor, according to the distribution by centers.
