The Port Authority of the Balearic Islands (APB) presented to the Navigation and Port Council of La Savina the state of execution of the projects currently underway and the investment plan foreseen for the coming years. The program, corresponding to the period 2025-2030, contemplates an investment of over 9.4 million euros, aimed at modernizing port infrastructures, reinforcing operational safety, updating services and improving the management of Formentera’s public port domain.
Investments in infrastructure and operational safety
Priority actions include the modernization of the Ro-Ro ramps of the commercial docks, scheduled for completion in 2026, which will optimize the loading and unloading of vehicles and goods. In addition, the second floor of the Captaincy building has been refurbished to improve work spaces and user service.
The APB is also making progress in the renovation of fenders on the docks, an essential intervention to increase safety during docking maneuvers and ensure more efficient operations.
Betting on a unique marina
One of the projects with the greatest strategic scope is the creation of a single marina, based on a unified management model for moorings, commercial premises and parking spaces. This initiative aims to eliminate administrative and operational duplication, improve efficiency in port management and ensure uniform standards of quality and sustainability in all nautical-sports facilities in La Savina. The bidding procedure is underway and is expected to be resolved in 2026.
Special Port Plan and institutional coordination
As part of the strategic planning, the APB continues to promote the updating of the Special Plan for the port of La Savina. To this end, he proposed the creation of a joint commission with the Consell de Formentera, which will review and adapt the contents of the document to the current and future needs of the port and the island.
Environmental commitment and decarbonization
The APB stated that it will reinforce its environmental strategy through the implementation of new ordinances aimed at improving air quality and the state of port waters. At the same time, the process of decarbonization of the Ibiza-La Savina line is progressing, incorporating more demanding environmental criteria in the new maritime service tender.

During the current fiscal year, the APB has completed operational interventions, such as the segregation of the navigation channel, aimed at improving the safety and fluidity of maritime traffic. Accessibility improvements have also been made, including the renovation of pedestrian routes and the adaptation of spaces to facilitate mobility, especially for people with reduced mobility.
Regarding the port public domain, an agreement has been signed with the Consell de Formentera for the implementation of regulated parking, a key tool to organize the access and use of the port area by residents and visitors. Likewise, progress has been made in the agreement with the Ministry of the Interior for the installation of an integrated surveillance system in the lighthouse of La Mola, contributing to the reinforcement of maritime security on the island.
