The maritime day between Ibiza and Formentera continues to be marked by operational adjustments and warnings from shipping companies, in a context of yellow alert for coastal phenomena activated by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET). The warning will remain in force from December 4, at 10 am, until December 5, at 05.59 am, due to westerly winds between 50 and 60 km / h (force 7) that directly affect navigation in the channel.
Baleària replaces the fast ferry Nixe and adjusts schedules
In view of the adverse conditions, Baleària has confirmed that the Nixe fast ferry services, which operate with passengers and vehicles, have been replaced by Eco fast ferries (passengers only).
-
Departures from Ibiza at 11.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m.
-
Returns from Formentera at 12.00 h and 16.00 h.
In addition, the company has modified the Cap de Barbaria ferry schedules to offer alternatives to users and maintain connectivity between islands.
Trasmapi warns of possible disruptions to all its programming
For its part, Trasmapi has posted on its website a message to passengers warning that the schedule for this Thursday, December 4, may be affected due to adverse weather conditions. The warning comes after several of its services have appeared with poor navigation rating and some fast ferries have accumulated delays or operational adjustments.
Cancellations and difficult sailing on several shipping lines
The combination of bad sea and strong wind has caused punctual cancellations, such as the Castaví Jet at 16.40 h or the Nixe at 17.40 h, as well as multiple changes in the planned schedules, according to the Proximo Ferry website. The routes that have left have done so in uncomfortable sailing conditions, with slightly longer than usual durations and the shipping companies recommending caution.
Advice for passengers in the event of an alert
As long as the yellow alert remains active, travelers are advised:
-
Check the schedule in real time on the websites of Trasmapi, Baleària and Formentera Lines.
-
Allow additional time for possible delays or vessel changes.
-
Consider alternatives for mobility on land, such as the L2 bus or private transfers available at the ports.
The situation could last until the early hours of Friday, depending on the evolution of the wind and the state of the sea, so new adjustments in maritime services between Ibiza and Formentera are not ruled out.
