The councilor of the Department of Economic Promotion, Municipal Cooperation and Human Resources, María Fajarnés, has presented today the procedure to apply for aid to individuals and companies affected by the damages caused by the DANA and the former hurricane Gabrielle. This aid can be requested from Friday, December 5 until Thursday, January 8.
The support line, endowed with 5 million euros from the agreement signed between the Consell de Ibiza and the Balearic Government, aims to provide a rapid response to the effects of the weather episodes recorded on September 30 and October 11, which left 212 incidents on the island, including floods, road closures and damage to homes, businesses and infrastructure.
As Fajarnés explained, the objective is to repair the losses caused by the storms and to support the people affected, compensating the material and economic damages suffered. “We want to provide an immediate response to the basic needs of those affected until the arrival of state aid, as well as to facilitate the recovery of homes, vehicles and economic activities,” he said.
He also recalled that these aids -financed by the Balearic Government and managed by the Consell Insular de Ibiza- are non-refundable subsidies and will be granted in order of entry until the available credit is exhausted. Among the priority criteria are families who have had to leave their homes, joint applications from landlord and tenant, and vehicles adapted for people with reduced mobility.
Three lines of assistance for housing, vehicles and companies
Three lines of aid have been established. Line 1A contemplates 2,500 euros per affected dwelling located on the first floor, garden floor, ground floor, semi-basement or single-family dwelling, provided that the contents have been seriously damaged and essential goods or belongings have been lost. A joint application between owner and tenant may be submitted, which is considered a priority. The required documentation includes a responsible statement, photographs, legal title, technical reports (if any), bank details and, if applicable, insurance.
For its part, Line 1B offers aid for total loss vehicles: 250 euros for mopeds, 750 for motorcycles, 1,500 for cars and vans, and 2,000 for vehicles adapted for persons with reduced mobility. It will be necessary to provide the license plate number, NIF of the owner, file of the accident, temporary or definitive deregistration at the DGT, responsible statement and account number.
Support for the self-employed and SMEs affected
Line 2, aimed at the self-employed and SMEs, will cover up to 50% of the accredited damage, with a maximum of 10,000 euros per company. Machinery and equipment, software and intangible assets, installations and works, as well as cleaning and water extraction tasks will be eligible. To be eligible for this aid, the activity must be in operation by September 29, 2025, and the minimum amount of eligible costs must exceed 2,000 euros, VAT excluded.
Applications may be submitted through the electronic headquarters of the Consell Insular de Ibiza, in person at the headquarters of the Consell at Avenida d’Espanya 49 -with a specific point enabled- or at the headquarters of the PIMEEF, collaborating entity for companies. Fajarnés has stressed that the bases have been agreed with the municipalities of the island and with PIMEEF itself.
The consellera reiterated that “from the first moment we were aware of the need to activate aid and expedite the entire procedure, with the aim that the victims can receive economic support in the shortest possible time“. In addition, she thanked the involvement of the Balearic Government, which has enabled the 5 million euros for this urgent aid, and has advanced that, if the allocation is insufficient, “we will work to activate more funds so that no one is left behind”.
