Ibiza investigates the collapse in Valverde: what is known about the work accident that left two people injured

The Civil Guard of Ibiza is investigating the causes of a work accident that occurred this Wednesday in the Valverde urbanization, in Santa Eulària, where the roof of a house under renovation gave way, injuring a worker.

The affected is a 53-year-old Senegalese man, who suffered polycontusions when he fell into the rubble. He was treated at the scene and taken by ambulance to the Hospital Can Misses, where he received treatment and remained under observation in the Emergency Department. According to the Health Area of the Pitiusas, he was discharged after 21.00 hours.

Another worker was also injured and was taken to the Policlínica Nuestra Señora del Rosario, where he was also discharged hours later.

The warning reached the Ibiza Fire Department at around 12.00 hours. Nine firefighters were sent to the site, after initially receiving the alert that there could be more workers trapped under the collapse. Finally, it was only necessary to rescue one person.

The operation was also joined by units of the Local Police of Santa Eulària and the Civil Guard, whose Judicial Police team has opened proceedings to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
