The cultural agenda of Sant Joan de Labritja is reinforced this weekend with the opening of ‘Tardor’, the first exhibition that Ibizan painter Júlia Ribas (Sant Agustí, 1973) presents in the municipality. The exhibition will open its doors this Friday, December 12, at 7.30 pm, in the parish house of the village church, in an event organized by the Grup Cultural Sant Joan de Labritja with the collaboration of the City Council.
The exhibition brings together about 40 works created mostly during the autumn, a period whose light and tonalities have inspired the whole of the exhibition and which give the project its name.
Architecture, tradition and autumn light
In the main hall visitors will be able to contemplate a series of pieces dedicated to the farmhouses of different villages of the municipality, as well as the church of Sant Joan, the protagonist of the official poster of the exhibition. Although the buildings represented are recognizable, they are pictorial interpretations worked with mixed media on canvas, in which color and material evoke the traditional construction elements of the island.
The second room introduces works of natural themes, including marine, posidonia scenes, olive trees, junipers, pines and fig trees, as well as representations of bell towers in the municipality. These pieces are made not only on canvas, but also on recovered wood and juniper tagell, incorporating materials from the local environment.
‘Tardor’ can be visited until January 11, from Monday to Saturday, from 10 am to 1 pm, and on Sundays, from 10 am to 2 pm.
