The Civil Guard has confirmed this week the identity and cause of death of the man found on Saturday on the shore of the beach of s’Argamassa, in the municipality of Santa Eulària. The autopsy has revealed that the deceased was a 50-year-old Ukrainian resident and that he died by drowning, according to official sources have specified to La Voz de Ibiza.
The body was found around 14.00 hours on Saturday by a neighbor who was walking her dog, a fact that already advanced this medium in its first coverage of the event. The woman alerted 112, which activated the intervention of the Guardia Civil and the Local Police of Santa Eulària, who secured the area and opened proceedings.
At the time of the discovery, the man was dressed and did not have any type of identification, a factor that complicated the first verifications. The agents ruled out signs of violence from the beginning, although they kept all the hypotheses open while the forensic analysis was being carried out.
The autopsy, carried out in the last few hours, has confirmed that the death was caused by drowning, according to sources of the investigation. The forensic examination has thus cleared the main unknowns that remained open since the weekend.
Following the identification, the Guardia Civil continues to collect data to reconstruct the last movements of the deceased, although it stresses that there is no evidence pointing to the intervention of third parties.
S’Argamassa beach, an area frequented by residents and tourists, has already been the scene of several emergency interventions, especially outside the summer season. The case remains open, pending complementary reports and notification of the man’s next of kin.
