The City Council of Eivissa will conclude the program organized on the occasion of the International Day for the Eradication of Violence against Women, which is commemorated every November 25, with the representation of the monologue ‘No solo duelen los golpes’, by activist and communicator Pamela Palenciano. The event will take place this Wednesday, December 17 at the Can Ventosa Theater, with a performance open to the public at 6 pm.
The activity puts an end to a series of workshops, talks and family proposals promoted by the consistory with the aim of raising public awareness and promoting equality in all areas, reinforcing the institutional commitment against gender violence beyond a specific date in the calendar.
A program designed for all ages
The Councilor for Equality, Sara Barbado, stressed that the fight against gender violence “can not be limited to one day a year”. In this sense, she stressed that the programming of 25N in Eivissa has sought to reach all ages and sensibilities, combining different formats and languages.
“With this programming we have tried to reach all ages and sensibilities, offering spaces for reflection, creation and dialogue. The arts, culture and education are fundamental tools for building collective awareness and preventing violence at its roots,” said Barbado.
A monologue based on personal experience
The monologue ‘No solo duelen los golpes’ addresses gender violence from the personal experience of Pamela Palenciano, who combines emotion, humor and social denunciation to generate a direct and close story that challenges the audience. The play has become a reference among cultural and educational proposals against gender violence, especially among young people.
In addition to the performance open to the general public at 6 p.m., the show will have a matinee session at 11:30 a.m., reserved for students from the municipality’s high schools, thus reinforcing its pedagogical dimension.
Free admission at Can Ventosa
Both performances will be held at the Can Ventosa Theater and the entrance for the afternoon session will be free, facilitating access to all interested citizens. With this proposal, the City Council of Eivissa closes the programming of 25N betting on culture as a tool for awareness and prevention, both for residents and visitors who are on the island.
