The City Council of Sant Josep de sa Talaia has presented this Tuesday the III Fira de sa Sobrassada, an initiative that reaches its third edition with the aim of claiming one of the most representative products of Ibiza and strengthen the gastronomic identity of the municipality, while boosting the local economy, especially outside the tourist season.
The fair will be held over two days, on Saturdays December 20 and 27, with a program that combines tradition, gastronomy, folklore and activities for all audiences, and will be held in Sant Josep and Sant Jordi, respectively.
Support for local products and the primary sector
During the presentation, the Councillor for Business Promotion and Transport, Lourdes Marí, stressed that “this fair is an opportunity to give visibility to our local products and the work done by producers in the municipality”. In this sense, she reaffirmed the commitment of the consistory with this type of initiatives: “From the City Council we will continue betting on actions that strengthen the local economy, especially outside the tourist season”.
For his part, the island’s director of Rural and Marine Affairs, Joan Marí, highlighted the strong link between the island and this traditional product: “If there is a product that identifies Ibiza, especially during the winter, it is sobrasada, one of our most emblematic foods, which fully deserves a fair like this one”. In addition, he remarked that such events “serve, on the one hand, to make people and, on the other hand, to promote and enhance the value of local products and the primary sector of the island”.

First day: Sant Josep, Saturday 20
The first day of the III Fira de sa Sobrassada will be held on Saturday December 20 in Sant Josep, from 11.00 am. The program will start with a demonstration of sobrasada making by Carn & Coop, next to the Town Hall.
At 12.00 pm is scheduled a ballada pagesa with the folk group of Sant Josep, which will coincide with a showcooking of Marga Orell, as well as the opening of craft markets and children’s workshops designed for families.
The day will continue at 14.00 hours, when the envelat will host a popular fried pork, squid and sobrasada, one of the most anticipated moments of the day.
In the evening, at 21.00 hours, will take place the XVII Sobrassada Rock, with concerts by La Calle and Lobos (tribute to Leiva and Pereza), as well as sobrasada service, toasters, sandwiches and a festive atmosphere. This activity is organized by Ca sa Majora Segle XXI.
Second day: Sant Jordi, Saturday 27
The second appointment will be on Saturday 27 December in Sant Jordi, also from 11.00 am. Again, Carn & Coop will be making sobrasada, this time in the envelat.
At 12.00 pm, the program includes a ballada pagesa with the folk group of Sant Jordi, as well as showcooking, craft market and children’s workshops.
To close the fair, at 13.30 hours, the Plaza de Sant Jordi will host the preparation of tapas with sobrasada in the Christmas booths, a proposal designed for both residents and visitors.
From the City Council of Sant Josep de sa Talaia invites neighbors, as well as those visiting the island at this time, to participate in the III Fira de sa Sobrassada and enjoy an event that combines tradition, local produce and festive atmosphere in the middle of the Ibizan winter.
