The Consell de Formentera, through the Department of Mobility, has launched from Monday December 15 a new daily bus frequency on the line connecting the port of La Savina with La Mola, with the aim of improving the public transport service and adapt it to the real needs of the resident population.
The extension of the service consists of a new daily ascent and a new daily descent, a measure that responds directly to the requests made by the neighbors of La Mola through the channels of citizen participation, as well as the demands raised by young people in the Plenary of Children and Youth, where a better connectivity of public transport was demanded, especially at night.
New timetables for the Savina-la Mola line
With this reinforcement, from Monday to Saturday there will be a new departure from La Mola at 21.10 hours and another one from La Savina at 22.00 hours. On Sundays and holidays, the last departure towards La Savina will be at 7.20 pm, while in the opposite direction, from the port towards La Mola, the last bus will leave at 8.30 pm.
This improvement also allows optimizing the connection with the last maritime exits, facilitating the movement of both residents and workers and advancing towards a more efficient mobility system adapted to the island’s reality.
Changes in holidays and special dates
The Consell de Formentera has also informed of specific changes in the schedules during the holidays. Specifically, on December 24 and 31, the last departure from the port and from La Mola will be at 18.20 hours.
On December 25th and January 1st there will be two services in the morning, with departures from La Savina at 10.20 and 12.20 am, and two in the afternoon, at 4.20 and 6.20 pm. Departures from La Mola will be one hour later in each case.
Subsidized public transportation for priority groups
The Consell has recalled that public transport in Formentera continues to be subsidized, under the agreement approved by the Govern de les Illes Balears in the framework of the State Law on Sustainable Mobility, with regional and state funding.
This discount is maintained for residents, minors under 18 years of age, disabled or dependent persons and their companions, as well as for non-resident workers, who may request the corresponding identification card at the OAC or OVAC.
A commitment to more sustainable mobility
The Consell insular stresses that this action is part of the strategy of continuous improvement of public transport, based on active listening to the public, institutional coordination and the desire to move towards a fairer, functional and sustainable mobility model for Formentera.
