The Ibiza Film Festival, Ibicine, creates Ibicine ScriptLab, the first script laboratory-residence on the island, aimed at fiction feature film projects, both live-action and animation. The initiative reinforces the festival’s commitment to emerging talent and the professionalization of the audiovisual sector.
Promoted by Dicho y Hecho Producciones SL, organizer of the festival, the program will accompany both novice and experienced screenwriters in the creative and strategic development of their projects, with the aim of facilitating the writing of screenplays and their connection with the national and international audiovisual industry.
An open laboratory from the idea
Ibicine ScriptLab will allow projects to be submitted from an early stage. According to the festival’s director, Helher Escribano, “this is the first time that a script lab allows the registration of ideas as a basis”, with the intention of helping to develop projects that, in many cases, do not advance due to the time and complexity involved in writing a feature film.
The laboratory will select five projects, without gender or thematic restriction. Each one will receive personalized mentoring, workshops, coaching sessions and specialized training, which will be developed online during March 2026 and in person in Ibiza, from April 8 to 12, 2026, within the framework of the Ibicine Festival. The organization also guarantees the selection of at least one project from the Balearic Islands.
A two-phase selection process
The call will be open from December 17, 2025 to January 15, 2026. In the first phase, a synopsis and a statement of intent must be submitted. Among all the proposals received, 20 projects will be pre-selected and a second submission will be requested with a sequenced treatment and a dialog sequence.
On March 10, 2026, the five selected projects will be announced and will receive online mentoring before the in-person phase in Ibiza.
High-level mentoring and industry connections
The selected projects will receive advice from renowned professionals such as producer Luis Manso, winner of several Goya awards; screenwriter Jorge Naranjo, with work for film, television and platforms such as Netflix; and screenwriter and producer Teresa Fernández-Valdés, responsible for series such as Fariña or Las chicas del cable.
The team of mentors is completed with experts linked to the Festival de Roteiro Audiovisual de Porto Alegre (FRAPA), the largest screenwriting market and festival in Latin America.
Awards and international projection
The lab will culminate with a pitch day and One to One meetings on April 10, 2026 at the Teatro España in Santa Eulària des Riu, and with the awards ceremony during the Astarté 2026 Awards Gala on April 11 at the Can Ventosa Cultural Center.
Thanks to the agreement with FRAPA, the winning project will obtain a direct place to participate in FRAPA 2026, in Porto Alegre (Brazil), with accommodation and full accreditation, while the five finalist projects will have access to the One to One online of the international market. The winning project will also be invited to Ibicine 2027.
Registration and participation
Registration will be made exclusively through the form available at www.ibicine.com and has a cost of 50 euros per project. The works must be unpublished, correspond to fiction feature films of at least 60 minutes and be presented directly by their authors.
With this initiative, Ibicine consolidates its role as a platform for creative impulse, training and connection with the audiovisual industry, reinforcing the projection of Ibiza as a space for the development of the cinema of the future.
