RCD Mallorca and Dani Rodríguez have agreed on Thursday the termination of the contract that linked both parties, putting an end to one of the longest and most significant stages of the bermellón locker room in recent years. The player still had six months left on his contract with the club, but both parties have opted to close the cycle early.
Rodriguez, who arrived on the island in the summer of 2018, bids farewell after seven and a half seasons in which he became a key figure on and off the field, as well as one of the team’s captains.
A benchmark of the club’s modern era
During his time at Mallorca, Dani Rodríguez played 282 official matches between LaLiga, Second Division, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup. He scored 32 goals and provided 39 assists, numbers that place him among the most influential players in the club’s recent history.
Beyond the statistics, his consistency, leadership and commitment earned him the recognition of the fans and the club itself, which highlighted his imprint in a period marked by promotions, permanence and consolidation in the elite.
The conflict that precipitated his departure
The midfielder had been out of the squad since last August, after publicly expressing his dissatisfaction with a technical decision. Rodríguez expressed his disappointment after not playing minutes at the Santiago Bernabéu, in a match in which the coach, Iagoba Arrasate, opted for another player in his place.
Through his social networks, the player showed his frustration, pointing out the impact that the situation caused him, a message that marked a before and after in his relationship with the coaching staff and accelerated his departure from the club.

Despite the outcome, RCD Mallorca wanted to publicly acknowledge the player’s career and wished him success in his professional future. The club highlighted his professionalism and the value of his contribution during all these years.
For his part, Dani Rodríguez also said goodbye with words of affection for the club, the fans and the island. The player thanked the treatment received since his arrival and recalled the personal and family bond built during his stay in Mallorca, stressing the pride of having defended the bermellona shirt with effort and commitment until the end.
With his departure, Mallorca closes a stage marked by the stability of a player who was an essential part of the team’s growth in the last decade, while Dani Rodríguez now begins a new chapter in his professional career.
