The city of Barcelona will become a cultural and solidarity meeting point for Palestine on January 29, when the international campaign ‘Act X Palestine’ organizes a massive concert at the Palau Sant Jordi to raise funds for humanitarian aid organizations in Gaza and to highlight the role of culture in understanding the situation in that territory.
The event, which was presented this Thursday at the Apolo hall with the presence of the campaign’s spokesperson, Nora Miralles, aims to be “a collective cry to vindicate the role of culture in understanding the situation in Palestine,” in Miralles’ own words.
A broad and eclectic lineup with national and international voices
The concert will bring together a large group of artists of diverse styles and origins, many of them with wide projection in the Spanish and international music scene.
Among the confirmed participants are Oques Grasses, Bad Gyal, Amaia, Lluís Llach, Fermín Muguruza, Yeray Cortés, Morad and La Zowi, among others. In addition, Tinariwen, from Mali, or Zaho de Sagazan, from France.
The focus will also be on the participation of Palestinian voices, with artists such as Zeyne and Lina Makoul, whose work has transcended borders and will provide the meeting with a direct perspective from the people it aims to make visible.
In addition to the music scene, the campaign has confirmed the support of prominent personalities from the cultural and sports world, such as soccer coach Pep Guardiola and actor Eduard Fernández.
A message from Palestine: art and hope
During the presentation of the event, a representative of the Palestinian Performing Arts Network (PPAN) intervened via video call from Palestine to underline the importance of art as a tool for resistance and hope. In his words, “art, joy, love and life are resistance” and added that “what the Palestinian community in general needs is hope, justice and peace for the future”.
This message highlighted the humanitarian and symbolic component that the organization seeks to convey with the concert, beyond its cultural and artistic dimension.
Tickets and citizen support
Tickets for the concert will go on sale this Friday at 10.00 a.m. on the website www.actxpalestine.com/concert-manifestwith prices ranging from 25 to 45 euros. In addition, a row zero will be enabled for all those who wish to support the cause through donations without having to attend the event.
The organization has called for the concert to be not only a musical event, but also a show of active solidarity: every ticket sold and every donation will support organizations working directly with the civilian population in Gaza, providing basic health and emergency aid.
What is ‘Act X Palestine’?
The ‘Act X Palestine’ campaign is an international project driven mainly by Palestinian organizations that has found in Barcelona its “epicenter” thanks to the “history of struggle” of the Catalan capital, as pointed out by its organizers. The platform has already carried out multiple solidarity events in Spain, with a focus on cultural activism and public awareness.
One of the most outstanding events organized by the campaign was the match between the Palestine and Catalonia national teams held last November at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, another gesture that sought to make the Palestinian situation visible through sport.
In addition to concerts and events, ‘Act X Palestine’ has promoted publishing and dissemination initiatives such as the book Un crit pels infants de Gaza, written by journalists Txell Feixas and Cristina Mas, whose funds go entirely to humanitarian aid organizations in the conflict territory.
Music as a tool for memory and resistance
The ‘Act X Palestine’ proposal underlines the idea that culture and music can be powerful vehicles for memory, visibility and solidarity. The organization is committed to a format that combines entertainment and social responsibility, and seeks to position the concert not only as a show, but as an act of support and community building around a humanitarian cause.
The fact that artists from different generations and styles come together on the same stage reinforces the collective dimension of the event. From established figures such as Lluís Llach, a benchmark of socially committed music in Spain, to younger voices such as Bad Gyal or Morad, the line-up reflects a diversity of musical styles and outlooks that can attract a wide and heterogeneous audience.
Barcelona, scene of cultural solidarity
The choice of Barcelona is no coincidence. The city has historically been a point of convergence of social, cultural and political movements that have found in the Catalan capital a space to express themselves and organize. For ‘Act X Palestine’, Barcelona represents a strategic place to promote the visibility of the Palestinian cause through cultural initiatives that transcend mere denunciation and seek to generate a tangible impact on the lives of those affected.
In addition, the organization hopes that the concert will be a precedent for future events of a similar nature, not only in Spain but also in other countries, with the aim of consolidating an international network of support through culture.
Society’s response and expectations of the event
Pending the final public response to ticket sales, the expectation generated by such a broad and diverse lineup has already garnered attention on social networks and in the media. For many music fans and social activists, the initiative represents an opportunity to express their solidarity in a creative and meaningful way.
The organization and the artists involved have stressed that the January 29th concert will not be an isolated event, but another example of a movement that seeks to combine culture with the demand for justice, peace and human rights for the Palestinian people.
