UD Ibiza bleeds to death in stoppage time and closes the year with another draw

The UD Ibiza continues without raising its head and closed the year with a bitter draw against Alcorcón (2-2), in a match that once again exposed the structural shortcomings of the team. The light-blue team took the lead twice, but did not know how to manage the advantage and conceded the final equalizer in the 95th minute, after an extension of 11 minutes indicated by the referee.

Sunday’s match made it clear that the team coached by Miguel Álvarez is undergoing a profound transformation. Neither Fede Vico nor Gallar, the most promising players, were even called up, which confirms that both are on the exit ramp.

With a lineup marked by absences, Álvarez opted for Sofiane as a center forward, Bebé on the right wing and Monju as a central defender. In the midfield, Señé again played some minutes, but was unable to provide criteria or balance. The slogan seemed clear: more ball, more control. But on the pitch, the script was the opposite.

José Albert’s goal and no control of the game

Alcorcón took the initiative from the start and came close to scoring with a header against the crossbar. However, it was UD Ibiza who struck first. In the 27th minute, after Bebé’s cross was rejected by the local defense, José Albert volleyed a left-footed shot from outside the area into the top corner. A goal that put the Pitiusos ahead.

Despite the advantage, the Ibizan team was unable to manage the pace of the game. Far from calming the game, the team took refuge in their own half, unable to combine three passes in a row and without generating play from the midfield. Only an isolated action between Sofiane and Bebé, poorly resolved, generated some danger before the break.

Tie from the penalty spot and an agonizing finale

After the restart, Alcorcón found the equalizer in a controversial play. A fall by Carmona against Monju in the area was flagged as a penalty, despite the doubts. Aparicio converted the penalty (1-1) and restored parity to the scoreboard.

With half an hour to go, Álvarez looked for a reaction with Davo as second striker, but the team remained sterile in attack. Once again it was Ramón Juan who saved the team with several meritorious interventions.

In the 86th minute, Bebé played an individual play from his own half, broke down the left and served a measured ball to Sofiane, who scored the 1-2. It seemed that Ibiza was taking the three points, but the outcome was once again cruel.

In the 95th minute, after a poorly defended action by the center of the defense, Vladys beat Ramón Juan and signed the final tie. In the last minutes, Alcorcón even came close to the third, leaving Ibiza on the ropes.
