The Island Council of Formentera and the Occupation Service of the Balearic Islands (SOIB) have launched a new edition of the mixed program of Training and Employment in Social and Health Care for Dependents in Social Institutions, an initiative aimed at improving employability and strengthening a key sector for the island. The project began on Tuesday, December 16 through the Local Development Area of the Consell.
The program, which will run until July 15, 2026, is aimed at ten unemployed people, who for seven months will combine theoretical and practical training with actual work, through a training and apprenticeship contract. In this way, the participants will be able to acquire paid professional experience at the same time that they are trained in a field with high labor demand.
For the implementation of this initiative, the SOIB has granted a subsidy of 140,866.46 euros, within the call SOIB Training in alternation in the instrumental public sector, local entities and third sector of social action 2025-2026. The project is co-financed with funds from the Sectorial Conference of Employment and Labor Affairs and the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+).
The main objective of the program is to improve the employability of the participants and provide them with official training that will enable them to obtain the Grade C certificate of professionalism in Social and Health Care for Dependents in Social Institutions (SSCS0208), a qualification that is especially in demand in the social and health care sector. This edition is part of line 2 of the call, aimed at unemployed people, with priority for people over 52 years old and people between 30 and 52 years old.
