The Consell Insular de Ibiza and the Ibiza Town Hall have signed this Tuesday the agreement that will allow to finance the execution of the project to adapt the crossing of the EI-10 between the Figueretes and Can Misses junctions, an action long claimed to improve the urban integration of this road. The agreement contemplates a maximum investment of 13,006,440.78 euros.
The agreement has been signed by the president of the Consell Insular, Vicent Marí, and the mayor, Rafael Triguero, and represents the unblocking of a strategic intervention for the city. The objective is to transform this section of the EI-10, which for years has acted as a physical barrier within the urban area, into a more urban road adapted to current mobility needs.
The project seeks to facilitate the movement of pedestrians and cyclists, improve road safety and reduce the fracture effect currently generated by the road between different neighborhoods, moving towards a more cohesive city model.
According to the agreement, the City Council will be in charge of bidding and executing the works, while the Consell Insular will assume the financing of the project. The agreement also contemplates the possibility of the former incorporating modifications to the project to adapt it to new municipal needs or to the characteristics of the urban environment.
The president of the Consell, Vicent Marí, stressed the importance of collaboration between administrations to make this action a reality and pointed out that the goal is to move towards an EI-10 “more integrated into the city, friendlier and safer“.
For his part, the mayor of Eivissa, Rafael Triguero, has valued the agreement as a key step for the island’s capital and said that the agreement allows “taking a decisive step” in a fundamental urban transformation for the axis that connects Figueretes and Can Misses.
