The National Police have dismantled an itinerant criminal group formed by four people who traveled by motorhome throughout Spain to commit robberies and thefts in areas of high purchasing power and tourism. The detainees, who have been imprisoned, are allegedly involved in 25 crimes against property which caused economic damage of close to 200,000 euros.
As reported by the National Police on December 30, 2025, those arrested resided in Nice (France) and had no known address in Spain. They used a motorhome as a means of transport and operational base to move around different autonomous communities, including the Valencian Community, Andalusia, the Balearic Islands and the Community of Madrid.
The investigation began last September, following the robbery of a safe in a shopping center in Elche, from which 8,800 euros in cash were stolen. From this fact, the agents were able to identify the alleged perpetrators and found that it was an organized group dedicated to itinerant crime. The investigations allowed them to be linked to ten other crimes, among them a robbery in an armored van in Ibiza, from which they managed to steal 60,000 euros.
Specialized in safes and vehicle thefts
Investigations revealed that the group specialized in robberies with force and thefts from safes, as well as thefts from inside vehicles. In order to commit the crimes, they carried out prior surveillance and surveillance, always acting in a coordinated manner and selecting targets in tourist enclaves and areas of high economic level.
Their usual haul included cash, jewelry and electronic devices, which they then placed on the black market. In addition, all members used false identities and documentation, with one of them using up to 24 different identities to make police identification more difficult.
Arrest in Benalmádena and seized material
The agents recently detected the movement of the group from France to the Costa del Sol, which led to suspicions of the imminent commission of new crimes. Finally, the four members were located and arrested in Benalmádena (Málaga).
During the entry and search of the motorhome, the agents found a number of items hidden in hidden boxes scattered around the interior of the vehicle. A total of 24,000 euros in cash, nearly 1,000 euros in foreign currency, a 100 franc gold coin, as well as numerous high-value electronic devices and various pieces of jewelry were seized.
Thanks to all the efforts made, the National Police have managed to clarify 25 crimes against property, committed in towns in Alicante, Malaga, the Balearic Islands and the Community of Madrid, with an estimated economic damage of around 200,000 euros. After being brought before the courts, the four detainees were sent to prison.
