The Consell de Formentera, through the area of Mobility, has opened the call for the tests to obtain the local permit for cab drivers and vehicles for hire with driver (VTC) corresponding to 2026. The process is governed by the regulatory bases approved and published in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands (BOIB), which can also be consulted on the website in the area of Mobility.
The tests will be organized in two calls during the first quarter of the year. The first will take place on February 13, 2026, with a registration period that opened on January 2 and will end ten working days later. The second call is scheduled for March 27, 2026, and the application period will open on March 9 and will last for five working days.
Applications may be submitted at the General Registry of the Consell Insular de Formentera (OAC), in person, or electronically through the Virtual Office of Citizen Services (OVAC). The registration fee to participate in the tests is 24 euros.
The content of the exams includes tests of Basic knowledge of Catalan and Spanish, as well as oral skills in foreign languages. English is mandatory and must also prove knowledge of at least one additional language between German, Italian or French. Knowledge of the municipality of Formentera, such as streets, urban centers and places of tourist, historical and geographical interest will also be evaluated.
The tests also include questions on the regulations governing the cab service and vehicles for hire with driver, access to natural areas and the municipal regulations on urban and interurban transport of persons. All tests are of an eliminatory nature and will be graded only as “pass” or “fail”.
Once the deadline for submitting applications has ended, the Consell will publish the provisional list of persons admitted and excluded on the notice board and on its website. From that publication, a period of three working days will be opened to submit claims or correct possible errors by writing to the General Register of entry of documents.
