The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) will activate this Friday yellow warnings for wind gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour and adverse coastal phenomena, with waves that could reach three meters in height, in the whole of the Balearic archipelago.
According to the weather forecast, the warning for coastal phenomena will come into force from midnight in the south of Mallorca and will remain active throughout the day. In this area, the wind could blow with gusts of up to 60 km / h, accompanied by a strong swell that will reach three meters. From 18.00 hours, the alert will be extended to the Serra de Tramuntana and the north and northeast of the island.
As for the wind, the yellow warning will be activated at 12.00 hours in the Serra de Tramuntana, where in the peaks and capes could be recorded gusts of up to 100 km / h. Later, from 18.00 hours, the alert will be extended to the north and northeast of Mallorca.
In Menorca, both the warning for wind and coastal phenomena will begin at 18.00 hours this Friday. On the other hand, in Ibiza and Formentera the alerts will be activated at midnight, although in the case of Ibiza they will end at 12.00 hours and in Formentera they will cease at 09.00 hours.
Forecast for Saturday
The yellow warnings for wind and coastal phenomena will remain active on Saturday in Mallorca and Menorca. In Mallorca, the wind will increase across the board, with gusts of up to 70 km / h in much of the island and peaks that could reach 100 km / h in the peaks and capes of the Serra de Tramuntana, as well as in the north and northeast. The warning will be in force from midnight until 18.00 hours.
The strong swell will affect throughout the day to the south of Mallorca, the Serra de Tramuntana and the north and northeast of the island, with waves up to three meters high. In Menorca, the warnings for wind and rough seas will remain active in the same time frame and with weather phenomena of similar characteristics.
