Far from the goal of mobilizing six thousand people and reaching, in the most optimistic forecasts of congregating 10,000 souls to raise their voices against the successful tourism model of Ibiza, the citizen platform Canviem el Rumb failed Friday night and barely managed to add a dozen hundreds of people in the streets of Ibiza.
The demonstration started at 8 p.m. in the Parque de la Paz and went through the main streets of the city, culminating in the central promenade of Vara de Rey.
Despite weeks of announcing the event and having the support of numerous entities and political parties, the entity described as “radical” by Prou for excluding a policeman for the simple fact of being a policeman, as advanced by La Voz de Ibiza, did not achieve the objectives set.

Thus, the new secretary general of the party, Vicent Rosselló, and the regional deputy and secretary of the Parliamentary Bureau, Pilar Costa, could be seen.
The Socialists even disseminated a video on their X account with statements by Rosselló.

Palestine very present
The Israel-Palestine conflict crept into the demonstration as numerous Palestinian flags flew throughout the march.
Urgency in water and natural resource management
The manifesto read during the protest stresses the need for a “radical change” in water management, asking that public funds not be used to oversize infrastructures focused on tourism.
In addition, the demonstrators demanded effective measures for the protection of natural areas, stressing that “tourism decrease” is essential for a more balanced development.
Under the slogan We set limits to tourismthe demonstrators chanted phrases such as “cities to live in and not for tourism”, “Airbnb out of here” and “more bicycles and less discotheques”.
With banners warning that “snakes are not the only plague in Ibiza” and that “all tourist rentals are criminal”, the march advanced between proclamations and an intense whistling as they passed in front of the headquarters of the Consell de Ibiza.
Strong demands on World Tourism Day
The protest symbolically coincided with World Tourism Day, and the manifesto read out called for urgent measures such as limiting flights and banning private jets, cruise ships and mega-yachts.
In addition, they demanded restrictions on rental vehicles, the regulation of housing prices and the eradication of illegal tourist rentals, urging the recovery of the residential use of vacation homes.
Protesters also called for restrictions on the purchase of homes by non-residents and an end to the privatization and commodification of beaches.
Another key demand was the implementation of controls on water consumption in the tourism sector, putting an end to the “privileges” of this sector and promoting a radical change in water management.
