A team of 64 people, including five firefighters from Ibiza, left today for the Valencian Community to participate in the rescue and cleanup work in the areas most affected by the DANA. The President of the Government, Marga Prohens, together with other authorities, said goodbye to the contingent in the commercial Moll of the Port of Palma, highlighting the joint effort and solidarity that characterizes the Balearic Islands in critical moments. The contingent includes 4 technicians from the General Directorate of Emergencies, 3 volunteers, 17 members of the General Directorate of Natural Environment and Forest Management, 4 technicians from SAMU061, 20 members of the Fire Department of Mallorca, 11 from the Fire Department of Palma and 5 from the Fire Department of Ibiza, who have traveled with specialized equipment and heavy machinery to collaborate in rescue and intensive cleaning tasks.
A team equipped for rescue in devastated areas
The device, equipped with 25 vehicles, 16 motor pumps and fire engines, and 5 high-capacity generators for water drainage and mud cleaning, has been sent with the aim of restoring safety and helping in the recovery of the area. President Prohens expressed her gratitude to the company Baleària for facilitating the transport and to all the citizens of the Balearic Islands for their solidarity and support, highlighting the importance of these troops in such a crucial moment. This team also has material for urban rescues and advanced life support units, essential in situations such as the one in the Valencian Community, where heavy rains and floods have left a trail of destruction and people trapped in their homes.
