The Integrated Operational Coordination Center (CECOPI) of the Generalitat Valenciana has decided to extend for 48 hours the restriction on the circulation of private vehicles on the main access roads to municipalities affected by the DANA. The measure, in force since last Friday, seeks to avoid the collapse of roads and facilitate access to emergency services, as reported by the Minister of Infrastructure, Vicente Martínez Mus. In the same line, the Generalitat and the Government have asked workers in the province of Valencia to telework “whenever possible” in order not to hinder the work of emergency and cleaning of the municipalities affected by the DANA. Martínez Mus, accompanied by the delegate of the Government in the Comunitat, Pilar Bernabé, explained that the extension responds to the congestion expected for this Monday on the access roads to Valencia, particularly the V-30 and V-31, which now absorb traffic from the A-7, interrupted since last Tuesday. With more than 100,000 vehicles a day passing through the bypass, the authorities are seeking to reduce traffic on these roads so as not to hinder emergency operations.
Affected roads and mobility exceptions
The restricted roads are the accesses and exits of the municipalities from and to the V-31 and V-30 in specific sections, as well as several minor routes: CV-33, CV-36, CV-366, CV-400, CV-403, CV-407 and CV-410. The restrictions do not apply to those traveling for essential reasons, such as health care, work compliance, care of dependents or force majeure actions.
Reinforcement of public transportation
To ensure the mobility of people displaced by the floods, the conseller has announced new provisional Metrobus lines that will begin operating this Monday. These routes seek to make up for the effects of Metrovalencia and their schedules will be available on the platforms of the Regional Ministry of Infrastructure and the Metropolitan Transport Authority of Valencia (ATMV). The convoys and frequencies of suburban lines C5 and C6 will also be doubled.
Balance of casualties and weather situation
The death toll remains at 210 people in the Valencian Community, according to the latest data confirmed by Cecopi. In parallel, the courts of Torrent, Alzira, Valencia, Mislata and Catarroja have already authorized the delivery of identified bodies to the families, allowing funerals to be held. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has updated the weather alert, deactivating the red warning but maintaining the orange alert on the coast of Valencia, Castellón and Tarragona. According to the latest forecast, the rains will continue to affect these areas, with a risk of intense storms although of short duration, allowing a slight improvement in the conditions of access to some areas.
