The PSIB-PSOE group has requested the Follow-up Commission of the Code of Ethics and Good Governance of the Consell de Formentera to make public the report against the president Llorenç Córdoba. This request arises after the ordinary plenary session of October was not convened, in breach of the Organic Regulations of the Consell, which, according to the PSOE, responds to an intention to avoid the presentation of the report in plenary session. The report, prepared by the commission on October 2, 2024, addresses a number of issues related to the actions of the president, including a complaint to the Prosecutor’s Office for alleged embezzlement of public funds. The PSIB-PSOE stresses that, in the metadata of the document sent by Córdoba Marí, it was discovered that it was drafted by a Consell official, which has sparked controversy over the management of public resources.
Smear campaign denounced
The PSOE has also denounced the “smear campaign” that, they say, President Cordoba is conducting against members of the commission in various media. Given this situation, the political group Gent per Formentera has requested an extraordinary plenary session to discuss the report and address the “serious political crisis” that, in the words of the PSOE, the institution is going through. The PSIB-PSOE has demanded that both the commission’s report and the complaint filed against the president be distributed urgently to all political representatives of the Consell Insular, in compliance with the principle of transparency and the right to information of elected representatives. The situation has put at the center of the debate the importance of greater transparency in public management and access to relevant information for the members of the corporation.
