The wave of small boats, taking advantage of the good sea conditions, does not stop in the Balearic Islands. In the last hours, two other boats full of immigrants have arrived in Formentera, counting73 intercepted people of North African origin. In addition, one of the boats arrived this morning has caught fire in the area of San Punta de ses Pesqueres in s’Estufador. After the emergency call to 112, they had to go a capora and two firefighters, a light vehicle of first intervention and a light rural fire engine.

“The fire was extinguished with water by laying 7 hoses of 20 meters each, as it is located in a place of difficult access,” they detailed. The operation has also involved an agent of the GOIB Environment.
Two more pateras
In the last hours, the arrivals of two small boats have been registered, with 13 and 18 immigrants of North African origin respectively. The first one occurred in the area of Es Calo and the other was intercepted three miles south of Formentera.
