The Government of the Balearic Islands has announced a new line of aid for sports clubs on the islands that compete in state-level championships. This call, endowed with 900,000 euros for the 2024-2025 season, seeks to provide essential resources for participation in national competitions, both in individual and collective sports. With this measure, the aim is to strengthen Balearic sport on national stages and facilitate the development of their templates.
Resources for templates, clothing and more
Among the expenses to be covered by these grants are the costs of staff training, the purchase of competition clothing and the rental of sports facilities. Eligible clubs may use the subsidies to cover registrations in official leagues, as well as the purchase of the first sports equipment and the remuneration of contracted sportsmen and women. However, expenses such as insurance, indemnities and rentals between sports entities of the same registry are excluded from the subsidy.
Wide range of disciplines and club requirements
Clubs wishing to apply for this aid must be registered in the Register of Sports Entities of the Balearic Islands and demonstrate their participation in national federative competitions. The grants are open to a diversity of sports, from individual disciplines such as athletics, badminton and swimming, to collective sports such as soccer, basketball and water polo. To be eligible, the competition must be included in the official calendars of their respective federations and take place between August 1, 2024 and July 31, 2025.
