The City Council of Sant Antoni has taken an important step towards the improvement of the municipal sports facilities by putting out to tender the project of reform and enlargement of the capacity of the pavilion of Sa Pedrera. With a budget of 1,665,514.43 euros, the plan includes the installation of new bleachers, modernization of infrastructure and improvements in the accessibility and security system. This budget will be financed in part with a grant from the Consell de Ibiza for 849,000 euros, while the City Council will assume the rest, about 816,514.43 euros.
Increased seating capacity and improved accessibility
The project includes the installation of four motorized telescopic bleachers on the sides of the pavilion, which will increase seating capacity by 878 seats. These bleachers can be deployed and retracted as needed, without interfering with daily sports activities. In addition, mobile bleachers will be installed on the north side of the pavilion, which will add another 168 seats, bringing the total capacity of the facility to more than 2,000 seats for the public. This expansion responds to a request from Club Básquet Sant Antoni, whose growth in the LEB Silver category requires larger capacity facilities to meet competition standards.

Adaptation to regulations and added services
In addition to the increased capacity, the modernization of the pavilion includes the installation of a Television Unit (TU) for dynamic advertising, a requirement of the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) for venues hosting high-level competitions . This device will be synchronized with the existing video scoreboards and can be installed at different points of the court. A public address system and a press room will also be incorporated, as well as a specific space for cameras, meeting the standards of professional sporting events.
Infrastructure and sustainability
Improvements also include the installation of updated ventilation systems, fire infrastructure, and new electrical installations and lighting for a safe environment. The increased capacity has necessitated the construction of more toilets, access for people with reduced mobility and a solar thermal system for hot water, bringing a sustainable approach to Sant Antoni‘s sports infrastructure. Companies interested in participating in the tender can submit their bids until November 20 at 2:30 pm. The contract follows a simplified open procedure, which facilitates a more agile processing. With this expansion, the Sa Pedrera pavilion will become a key facility on the island to host major sporting competitions, contributing to the promotion of sport in the community and the projection of Sant Antoni as a destination committed to quality sporting activity.
