The next Dakar Rally 2025 brings significant changes for the Ibiza rider Toni Vingut, who will embark on this edition in the Side by Side category along with the renowned rider Gerard Farrés. After the organization eliminated the quad category, in which Vingut had competed in five editions, the driver from Sant Antoni has decided to take the leap to this new modality, backed by the Automóvil Club de Ibiza y Formentera and his new team, the Pedregá Team.
From uncertainty to a new challenge
The elimination of the quad category in the Dakar came as a surprise for Vingut, who had achieved an outstanding 6th place in 2023. However, far from giving up, the rider found in the change an opportunity to learn and improve. The Side by Side category provides an additional challenge by competing as a team, and Farrés will be his co-driver, an experienced rider with 17 editions of the Dakar behind him, and who has achieved podium positions both on a bike and in Side by Side. In his statements, Vingut expressed the enthusiasm of having a co-driver in this new stage: “This category is very attractive to me, and I am lucky to be accompanied by Gerard, who is a great reference. We both come from competing solo, which I think will bring a very synchronized way of navigation”.
