Christmas is already lighting up Santa Eulària after the traditional lighting of lights that brought together neighbors and visitors in a celebration full of magic and family warmth. The mayoress, Carmen Ferrer, officially opened the festivities with an emotional speech in which she congratulated Christmas, encouraged to enjoy the scheduled activities and dedicated words of encouragement to those going through difficult times.
Light and music in the streets
This year, the main streets of all the parishes of Santa Eulària have a special Christmas lighting, highlighting as a novelty a spectacular Christmas tree 10 meters high installed in the Plaza de Santa Gertrudis, which has become the center of attention of neighbors and visitors. The event was accompanied by the traditional Christmas concert offered by the students of the Municipal School of Music of Santa Eulària. More than 100 young artists from the children’s initiation classes, children’s choir and the band performed pieces such as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer by J. Marks and Somewhere in My Memory by J. Williams, under the direction of Quico Martínez. The event culminated with a medley of traditional Christmas carols, such as Campana sobre campana and Noche de paz, followed by a chocolatada that delighted the audience.
Christmas Market: tradition and economic dynamization
Passeig de S’Alamera has also dressed up for the opening of the Christmas Market, which will be in operation until January 5. This year, the market has 19 booths financed by the Next Generation funds of the European Union, contributing to the economic revitalization of the city center. From Wednesday to Friday afternoons, and Saturdays throughout the day, visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities: Christmas shopping, local food, children’s games, karaoke and live musical performances. Santa Eulària has kicked off a Christmas full of light, music and traditions, inviting residents and tourists to enjoy an intimate family and community festivities.
