The president of the Consell Insular de Ibiza, Vicent Marí, has requested today, as part of the institutional celebration of the Constitution Day in Ibiza, which took place in Santa Eulària, “a strong and clear foreign migration policy by those who have the exclusive powers, as provided in Article 149 of our Magna Carta”.
Marí has detailed a context of “abandonment of the insular territories when facing a constant and worrying arrival of small boats with minors, which in the case of Ibiza is pushing the island’s assistance services to the limit, which cannot assume this constant increase of arrivals”. In this sense, and with multiple references “to dialogue, harmony and collaboration between administrations” that promotes the Constitution, honored today on its 46th anniversary, the president has called for “unity to provide solutions to the demands of a society that wants to move forward, respecting the differences, defending the vocation of integration and cohesion arising from the Magna Carta”. This spirit, according to Vicent Marí, must promote “improvements that recognize a dignified insularity“, and therefore requests support to ensure “quality public services and meet the demands of basic services officials who suffer the overexertion of coming to work on our island”. In short, it is, according to the president, to “attend to what the citizens ask us to have services and assistance appropriate to each case and circumstance”. Among other issues, the President highlighted the Constitution as “the only guarantee of coexistence and economic and social progress”, thanks to its basic principles such as “solidarity, equality between people and between peoples”. This, according to him, implies “putting the general interest above ideologies and political strategies”. Finally, the president wanted to highlight the values of our society, such as solidarity, “in each of the people who have mobilized and turned to help the victims and those affected by the severe floods in Valencia“.
