The victim, a Spanish national, had been admitted to the Hospital Can Misses for wounds to the chest, neck and hand, although her life was not in danger. The attack occurred in the public street around 8:20 p.m., when the couple, who had separated a month earlier, argued allegedly because of jealousy, according to police sources. During the altercation, the man assaulted her with a knife, causing several wounds before fleeing the scene.
The National Police responded to the scene after being alerted and requested immediate medical assistance. The woman was stabilized and taken to the hospital, while the officers began the search for the assailant.
Finding of the aggressor and care of the child
The man, after perpetrating the attack, took refuge in the house he had shared with the victim. When the agents arrived at the house, they heard a child crying inside. They managed to get the child, who was only seven years old, to open the door and, upon entering, found the assailant lifeless after having taken his own life.
No previous complaints of abuse
The Family and Women’s Unit (UFAM) of the National Police, in charge of the investigation, confirmed that there were no previous reports of abuse. This case highlights the complexity of gender violence situations, even in relationships where no previous episodes of aggression had been reported.
