The Ibiza Town Hall has confirmed that this Thursday will be approved in plenary session a second consecutive lowering of the Real Estate Tax (IBI). The measure involves a reduction in the tax rate, which will go from 0.69% to 0.68%, with the aim of reducing the tax burden on residents of the municipality. The new reduction will mean a saving of between 10 and 15 euros per taxpayer, depending on the cadastral value of the property. This adjustment implies a loss of income for the City Council of 242,508 euros, but the commitment to support family economies in complex times is maintained. In addition, a 3% discount will continue to be applied for those residents who pay their tax bill by direct debit, which could translate into an additional discount of up to 30 euros in the next IBI bill. From the consistory have recalled that, in the last two years, taxpayers have seen a cumulative reduction in their IBI of between 70 and 105 euros, depending on the value of their properties.
Support for families in the face of the waste tax increase
The first deputy mayor, Gema MarĆ, has stressed the importance of this measure to mitigate the impact of the recent increase in the waste tax, forced by Law 7/2022, which requires that the full cost of the waste collection service falls on taxpayers. MarĆ emphasized that, after a decade without a tax reduction, the City Council has made a commitment to families. “I am happy to be able to announce this new lowering of the IBI, demonstrating that we are on the side of household economies, where every euro counts,” he concluded.
