Tourists have left, between January and September 2024, just over 3,883 million euros in Ibiza and Formentera, representing a rise of 0.8% compared to the same period last year. This is reflected in the latest report prepared by the Balearic Institute of Statistics (IBESTAT), in collaboration with the National Institute of Statistics from the “Study of Tourism Expenditure” (EGATUR) released today. In addition to the general data on the expenditure of tourists with main destination to the Balearic Islands, it provides detailed information by islands and in the classification of tourists it differentiates between residents in another autonomous community and residents abroad. Among the main results, the report highlights that the total expenditure made by tourists (national and international) whose main destination was the Balearic Islands in September was 2,967.22 million euros with an annual variation of 6.59%. During the past month, in Ibiza and Formentera the tourist revenue amounted to 670.58 million euros, with an annual variation of -1.22%. The average expenditure per tourist was 1,225.64 euros (about 203 euros per day, depending on the length of stay).
In the Balearic Islands
The accumulated expenditurefrom January to September amounts to 19,433.54 million euros with an annual variation rate of 11.17%. In this period, tourists residing in other autonomous communities spent 2,064.4 million euros and those residing abroad, 17,369.14 million euros. The issuing countries that contributed most to the total expenditure of tourists were Germany (27.3%), the United Kingdom (21.8%) and countries aggregated in the classification category “rest of the world” (21%).British tourism spent in Ibiza and Formentera from January to September 863 million, with an average expenditure per person of 1,164 euros. Germans had a total expenditure of 292 million with an average per tourist of 1,135 euros. Spanish tourism reflects a much lower average expenditure of 756 euros per visitor, but this market has left in the Pitiusas 629 million euros in the first nine months of the year.
