The City Council of Santa Eulària has begun the clearing works for the construction of a traffic circle at the intersection of Mestral de s’Argamassa street and Camí de sa Trenca, a project long demanded by the neighbors of the area that seeks to improve safety and the quality of services at this intersection. The investment amounts to 1.3 million euros, with the company Islasfalto in charge of the work, which will be executed within six months. This project, which responds to a neighborhood request, was previously subjected to consultations and meetings with the inhabitants of the area, who contributed ideas and opinions to optimize safety in this section of Santa Eulària‘s road network. In addition to facilitating vehicular and pedestrian traffic, the new traffic circle will serve as a basis for future improvements in circulation and services in the s’Argamassa area.
Characteristics of the work
The traffic circle, which will be located in one of the busiest areas of Santa Eulària‘s road network, will have a diameter of 29.5 meters and a roadway of 6.73 meters wide, with a speed limit of 40 km/h in this section. The design is similar to the traffic circle already installed on the es Canar road, which connects other areas of the municipality. In addition, the project includes a series of improvements to optimize safety and comfort in the area, such as 1.8 meter wide pedestrian sidewalks, 20 LED streetlights to increase visibility and contribute to energy efficiency, and new water and sewage pipes. A stormwater network will also be installed which, in conjunction with roadway slope adjustments, will prevent ponding and optimize stormwater flow.
Services for transportation and aesthetics of the area
As part of the plan, two bus shelters will be placed, one in each direction, to facilitate the use of public transportation, including school bus service. These bus shelters will be located in rest areas off the main road, guaranteeing passenger safety and not hindering traffic. The plan also contemplates the burying of telecommunications and electricity cables, a measure that will contribute to improving the aesthetics and order of the environment. In addition, the area will have a specific service lane where garbage trucks will be able to empty underground containers, a measure designed to minimize the impact on traffic.
