The UD Ibiza has officially announced the incorporation of Paco Jémez as the new first team coach, in an agreement that will bind the coach to the entity until the end of the season. His first training session is scheduled for Thursday, November 14. Jémez’s arrival follows the departure of José Luis Martí, who was dismissed after last Sunday’s 2-0 defeat against Antequera, which marked the team’s third consecutive loss. With this result, UD Ibiza remained in ninth place in the table with 16 points, seven points behind the leaders, Betis. In addition, the team suffered an early elimination from the Copa del Rey against Conquense, which intensified the pressure on Martí. In an official statement, UD Ibiza expressed its gratitude towards Martí: “From our Club we want to convey to Martí our utmost gratitude for the work done, as well as wishing him every success for his professional and personal future”. While Jémez arrives, Sergio Cirio will temporarily take charge of the first team’s training.
Paco Jémez’s second stint at UD Ibiza
Paco Jémez, 53 years old and originally from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, begins his second stint as coach of UD Ibiza. His first foray with the Ibizan team was in the 2021/2022 season, when he led the team for 21 games in the Second Division. With extensive experience in the dugouts, Jémez has worked at First and Second Division clubs, as well as abroad. His domestic assignments include Cordoba CF, UD Las Palmas, Rayo Vallecano and Granada CF. In addition, Jémez achieved promotion to the Second Division with FC Cartagena in the 2008/2009 season. Internationally, he has coached Cruz Azul in Mexico and Tractor SC in the Iranian league, a team he coached between 2022 and 2024.
