A group of five volunteers from Civil Protection of Ibiza has arrived in the Valencian Community to collaborate in the relief and reconstruction work after the devastating passage of the DANA that caused significant damage in several municipalities on October 29th. The action of these volunteers responds to a request from the Government of the Balearic Islands, which organized the sending of different emergency teams to the neighboring region. Catiana Fuster, Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Volunteering of the Ibiza City Council, deeply appreciated the effort and willingness of the Civil Protection volunteers to go to the call for help. “This act of solidarity not only represents a spirit of collaboration between regions, but also makes our city deeply proud,” expressed Fuster. For the Ibizan team, this action reflects the importance of collaboration in emergency situations.
Equipment and rescue tasks
The volunteers traveled equipped with essential tools and materials to carry out their support work in the affected province of Valencia. The equipment transported included a vehicle with a motor pump and another with storage capacity, two bilge pumps, a power generator and lighting equipment. They also brought shovels, brooms, suction and bilge hoses, slings, an automatic defibrillator, first aid kits, helmets, filter masks, fire hoses, a booster and signaling flashlights. The team will be in charge of cleaning and rehabilitating the damaged infrastructure, including the evacuation of water accumulated in different affected areas and the removal of debris.
