A heavy truck overturned this midday on the road from Sant Miquel to Sant Joan, at the crossroads of Benirràs. According to initial reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle when taking a curve, hitting a wall and causing damage over a stretch of approximately 30 meters before overturning. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the accident.
Spread load and fire risk
The impact not only left the truck overturned on the roadway, but also spread its entire load into the oncoming lane. This created a dangerous situation, as the truck came close to colliding with another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. In addition, the emergency services acted quickly to control a fuel spill and avoid a possible fire. Ibiza Firefighters, who intervened on the scene at 13:30 hours, confirmed that the driver was able to get out of the vehicle on his own feet. Traffic shutdown in both directions
Due to the magnitude of the accident, traffic on the EI-341 road was cut off in both directions while the cleaning and removal of the truck was being carried out. This situation caused significant traffic delays, as the HGV and the debris occupied both lanes.
