The PSOE of Ibiza has expressed its dissatisfaction with the change of location of the waste containers in Corona street, in the neighborhood of Can Misses, after the asphalting works carried out in the area. According to the municipal group, this decision has generated accessibility problems for residents and unhealthy situations near the Can Misses Hospital and the Sa Joveria school, where the containers are now located. The socialist group has pointed out that the new location forces residents to cross a road with high traffic, which increases the risks for pedestrians. In addition, they denounce that the containers have been installed on the sidewalks in front of the hospital and the school, making it difficult for pedestrians to pass and causing a constant accumulation of waste on the ground, which affects the image and healthiness of the environment. “This relocation directly harms the neighbors, who now have to face unnecessary risks and difficulties to manage their waste”, have stated from the municipal group.
Request for review
The PSOE has received multiple complaints from residents of the area and has asked the City Council to urgently review the current locations. It has also urged the Environmental Department to improve accessibility and safety conditions in waste management. The socialist group has also pointed out that this is not an isolated case. According to the PSOE, the council has eliminated containers in other neighborhoods of the city and has not solved the problems in some underground containers, such as those on Avenida de EspaƱa, which remain unusable. These situations have caused accumulation of waste in the few available fractions, especially in the neighborhood of Es Pratet.
